Dear Rick,

My name is Mark Clifton .On the afternoon of February 8,2001my 16 year old son Michael , was driving to work . At 4:45 a 27 year old drunk driver took my only son and my best friend away forever. Michael got his drivers license on January 16th just three weeks earlier. Michael was driving a 1996 Sonoma pickup truck. As you can see from the pictures, I doubt he had much time to react. The drunk crossed the center line coming out of a curve obviously WELL above the speed limit [55] . Killing my son was his third drunk driving arrest and he was driving on a suspended license. His blood alcohol level was .18 .The deputy who questioned him at the hospital said he only asked about his truck. He was not injured in the crash. Michael was pronounced dead at 8:14 that night of massive head injuries. I am going to attach the pictures to this email and I hope you can use my story and pictures on your web site.

Michael was wearing his seatbelt and the airbag did deploy, but in crashes like this there is nothing that can save someone in todays vehicles.

The chain Michael is playing with in the first picture is a necklace we bought him for his 16th birthday. He always wore it and was waering it the afternoon of the crash. It is now around my neck and always will be.
Sincerly, Mark Clifton [email protected]
